About the Judge

The guest Judge for this month is Des Birt.  Des has been a professional photographer since he started with a country studio in Busselton in 1977.  Over his career, Des has worked in a range of genres; weeding, portraiture, editorial, corporate, business, advertising and aerial.  He has operated his own business for over twenty years.
Currently he is lecturing at North Metropolitan TAFE delivering topics on camera techniques, post-productions systems incorporating Photoshop and Lightroom, studio lighting, colour management systems, illustrative photography as well as TAFE's short courses on basic and intermediate photography.
Des has been involved with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) with roles such as State President, Board Member, National vice-President, National Treasurer, Membership Assessor, Business Mentor and is currently on the State Council.  He has AIPP qualifications which include Master photographer, Licentiate Member and an Honorary Life member.



Urban Landscape: Urban is something relating to, or concerned with, cities, city life or densely populated areas – cities, buildings, streetscapes, hardscapes, subways, etc. Focusses more on the patterns or processes , rather than people
