Portraiture

Sarah Adams will present a talk on Portraiture. Sarah is a Master Photographer of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) and was named the 2017 WA Portrait Photographer of the Year. Her journey in Photography started officially in 2011 where a love for capturing the smallest of subjects, newborns, began. Sarah spent half a decade as the lead photographer of The Sailor and The Butterfly exclusively photographing, studying, and educating herself in the art of newborn portraiture before offering mentoring to other photographers within this field. Sarah’s work has been nationally recognised by the AIPP with awards in the Newborn, Family and Portrait categories in the Australian Professional Photography Awards. In 2017 she was named one of three finalists as Australian Creative Photographer of the Year. Sarah was named the 2016 WA Newborn Photographer of the year and received her Associate of the AIPP in 2015.
(NB: April’s Set Subject is “Old Age Portrait”)

An Evening with World Explorer and Photographer - Nicolas Marino

Nico will give what will be a truly inspiring presentation.  Originally from Argentina, he travels the world by bicycle with a special focus on remote regions and its inhabitants.  He has cycled over 87,000 kms across four continents and 88 countries.

"Over five years I have pushed myself to the limits.  I have reached the most remote corners of this planet and I have spent my life with some of the most extraordinary people I could have met .... I have faced the best but also the worst that humanity has to offer and I have also seen myself face to face with death on a few occasions.  I lived the stories I tell and photographed them."

Friends and family are welcome to attend

Note:  To cover the fee incurred with Nico's presentation a $5.00 cover charge per person is suggested.

Night Shoot in Fremantle

With the weather changing, finally, let's change pace!

We will meet at 6.30pm at Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour, in the grassed area between Cicerello's and Joe's Fish Shack.  Then we will disperse to shoot .....

Find a friend or group and get help and feedback from members while we take in the Freo night life.

Regather at 9.00pm at Little Creatures for a catch up and debrief over a drink.

Bring your tripod and review night shooting information.

Tips for night shooting:

  • Be prepared for inclement weather - for yourself and your gear.
  • Pack extra batteries for your camera.
  • Bring a torch or use your phone (battery pack too?)
  • Think about wearing light coloured clothing for safety and watch your steps.
